We are pleased to present The Mad Hatter - one of the most eagerly awaited characters in the R. John Wright ALICE IN WONDERLAND COLLECTION based on the immortal books written by Lewis Carroll and illustrated by Sir John Tenniel. Authentically based on Tenniel's classic illustrations, The Mad Hatter stands approximately 16" tall without his top hat. He is fully jointed and constructed of the finest all wool felt with an amazing molded character head with intaglio eyes and hand painted features, a wig made of the finest custom mohair, and felt hands with individual fingers.
Collectors of STEIFF and R. JOHN WRIGHT will have a special treat in store this year with the production of an important series designed in conjunction with both companies: THE STEIFF KINDER.
As many collectors know, the products of the legendary Steiff company provided the earliest inspiration for R. John Wright creations. Now, 25 years after the first R. John Wright children dolls appeared, the story has come full circle with an exciting new collection of Steiff children dolls combining the best of the old and the new!
The Premiere Series will consist of the four children dolls shown above. Measuring approximately 17" tall, fully jointed and made entirely of felt, the dolls feature molded faces sculpted by R. John Wright to evoke the early child dolls produced by the Margarete Steiff Toy Factory in the early 1900's. With hand painted features, inset glass eyes, and mohair wigs, and individually sewn fingers, the dolls are dressed in detailed clothing and accessories made of the finest materials in designs reflective of their German heritage.
In 1976, R John Wright made his first doll .... the rest is now
history. He has been honored with many awards, but most
importantly, he has won the hearts of collectors from all over
the world.
His first creations were very primitive character dolls.
Through the years, he has made many nursery rhyme dolls, Little
Prince, Winnie the Pooh Series, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs,
Pinnocchio, Geppetto, Beatrix Potter Series, Paddington Bear
Series, Kewpie Collections, Curious George, Alice in Wonderland,

This years for the Disney Bear and Doll Convention, he produced
a fantastic Mickey Mouse. He stands 12" tall, limited to 500,
and looks like he just walked out of one the the Disney

The March Hare is constructed of the finest mohair plush and wool felt. He is fully jointed and stands approximately 17" tall. His sculptural face has detailed coloration, hand painted leather eyes, inserted whiskers, and molded "human-style" hands with individual fingers.

fully-lined felt jacket, pieced felt polka dot waistcoat, a silk necktie,
and striped trousers made of felt applique. True in every detail to
Tenniel's classic illustrations, a scattering of straw lies askew on top
of his head. For effortless display, The March Hare will come
complete with a built-in removable metal stand.

been granted the license to produce Mary Cicely Barker's enchanting Flower Fairies™! Measuring 9 to 12 inches tall and
fully jointed, each delightful Flower Fairy™ in the
collection will be made entirely of the finest all wool felt with a molded
face, body, and limbs, realistic coloring, hand painted features, and hand
knotted mohair wigs. The delicate fairy wings will be made of molded and
hand painted organdy and silk for a simmering, irridescent effect.
Each of the Flower Fairies™ will be individually designed and costumed according to the original Mary Cicely Barker illustrations and will include realistic flowers, berries, and leaves hand made entirely out of felt and organdy with exquisite coloration and detail.

Cicely Mary Barker was born in Croydon, South London in 1895. She led a quiet life, and was always happiest with a sketchbook in hand. Owing to ill health she was educated at home and largely taught herself to draw and paint. Despite her lack of formal artistic training her natural talent was commercially recognized when she was only 15 years old with the publication of a set of postcards. But it was her Flower Fairy books, the first of which was published in 1923, which brought her international acclaim as an artist. The delicate charm of her illustrations, coupled with her meticulous botanical accuracy, has captivated both children and adults alike for over 85 years, and the books have become classics of children's literature. It gives us great pleasure to interpret her artwork for the first time in the medium of molded felt.

The series will be launched in 2009 - the 70th anniversary year. "Dorothy" - the premiere piece in the collection - will be faithfully based on the the character unforgetably played by Judy Garland in the 1939 film. Dorothy Gale - the Kansas farmgirl who is swept away into the Wonderful Land of Oz - will be vividly brought to life by R. JOHN WRIGHT DOLLS. Standing approximately 16" tall, Dorothy will be fully jointed and made entirely of the finest all-wool felt incorporating a realistic sculptural body and limbs and a compelling portrait face with delicate hand painted features. Her lovely hands will have individual fingers and she will have a meticulously hand-knotted wig made of the finest mohair.
Oz's beloved heroine will be dressed in the trademark costume consisting of a white cotton blouse with rickrack trim, period undergarments, and a pinafore dress tailored of custom-made blue checkered fabric. On her feet, she will wear custom-made anklets and hand cobbled Ruby slippers - covered in tiny sequins with rhinestones and faceted crystals! On one arm, Dorothy will carry a custom made replica of the actual basket in the film. No effort will be spared to make this the most authentic version of this beloved character ever produced.

GOLDILOCKS AND BABY BEAR

special edition of Goldilocks & Baby Bear made in conjunction
with the release of the new book, "Goldilocks".
Goldilock's is
constructed of the finest all wool felt, measures 12 1/4" tall, and is fully jointed for playful posing.
Her golden curls are made of fine imported mohair and frame her delicately
hand painted face. Goldilocks features a sculptural body and
childlike hands sewn with individual fingers. Goldilocks is dressed
exclusively for this edition in the red cotton summer dress with a hand
smocked bodice and dainty Swiss embroidered trim which she wears in the
book. She has custom made striped stockings, fine cotton undergarments,
and hand cobbled red leather shoes. In one hand Goldilocks holds a
handcarved wooden spoon. Included with Goldilocks will be a
delightful version of Baby Bear. With German glass pupil eyes and a
molded leather nose, Baby Bear is made of fine wool/mohair plush
with felt paw pads and separate resin claws. Fully jointed, he measures 8"
tall standing. He comes wearing a felt and cotton bib and an authentic
hand painted replica of his empty porridge bowl! A tiny teardrop shows at
the corner of his eye. Also included is a first edition hard cover copy
with dustjacket of the new "Goldilocks" book personally autographed by R.
